James Wan and Simu Liu’s high-tech thriller series gets star-studded cast

Peacock’s highly anticipated James Wan-Simu Liu techno-thriller series has added five stellar actors to its cast, elevating the excitement around this espionage drama set shortly. Melissa Barrera (In the Heights), Sinclair Daniel (The Other Black Girl), Brian d’Arcy James (Spotlight), Mark O’Brien (City on a Hill), and Kathleen Chalfant (Wit) are confirmed as series regulars.
The untitled series unfolds in a world just five minutes into the future, where Liu stars as Alexander Hale, a first-generation American intelligence analyst whose brain is hacked. This invasion grants shadowy figures access to everything they see and hear, throwing Hale into a relentless race to uncover the culprits while navigating a dangerous web of loyalties and deception.
Barrera plays Michelle, a master of manipulation; Daniel portrays Parker, a newcomer grappling with the complexities of the intelligence world; James steps into the role of John Moira, a tough-as-nails mentor; O’Brien is Cobb, an ambitious agent; and Chalfant embodies St. George, a calculating leader with an eye on the big picture.
With Thomas Brandon (Legacies) as creator and Jennifer Yale (Outlander) as co-showrunner, the series boasts powerhouse executive producers, including James Wan (The Conjuring Universe), Simu Liu, and Michael Clear. Jet Wilkinson (The Chi) will direct the first two episodes, promising a visually compelling start to the show.
Peacock’s collaboration with Universal Studio Group’s UCP division hints at a high-stakes drama that could redefine the espionage genre.
